In addition to having been a conference speaker for over 100 hotel brand, management company, and tourism association conferences, it is estimated that over 40,000 people have participated in more than 2,000 small group training workshops he has presented. Doug has touched audiences in 49 of the 50 United States, throughout Canada, Mexico, and many Caribbean nations. Other countries he has presented in include Brazil, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Russia, and Ukraine.
Thousands worldwide read his monthly hotel, tourism and hospitality industry training articles in publications such as Hotelier Maldives, STR’s “HotelNewsNow,” Hotel-Online, Hotel News Resource, HTrends, HotelMarketing.com, and 4Hoteliers.com.
Doug is a veteran keynote conference presenter who can connect with audiences representing all levels of management and all segments of the lodging and tourism industry. During his career, he has been a keynote or break-out presenter for hotel brands such as Leading Hotels of the World, Choice Hotels, Embassy Suites Hotels, Kimpton Hotels, Oxford Suites, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Starwood, Viceroy Hotels & Resorts and Wyndham.

After growing up working from age 9 to 20 in his family’s small business, the Kennedy Craft Shop, Doug started his hospitality career during college by working as bellman with Marriott’s 125th property, Marriott’s Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington, Kentucky. After college, Doug entered Marriott’s management training program, moving on to the Stamford (CT) Marriott, then working with independent boutique hotels in New York City and Miami.
His conference presentations are spiced up with fun stories of his personal tribulations working in the business, but also from his experiences in the worldwide delivery of training in his topic areas of guest service, tourism sales, hotel hospitality, direct bookings (voice and textual sales), and hotel sales training.
